At WWDC26 Apple introduced Core AI, the on-device inference framework behind Apple Intelligence, now available to third-party developers with a Swift API, PyTorch conversion tooling, and a debugger. It runs models from small diarization nets up to 70B-parameter LLMs locally across CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine with no server or per-token cost, signaling a serious push to make local inference a default for app developers.
