Build Apps w/ Local AI for Unmetered Intelligence on every Windows PC | BRK260
Microsoft's local AI stack for Windows is now generally available, enabling on-device inference across 1 billion PCs with no cloud, tokens, or network.
“shifting from always running your AI workloads in the cloud to running them locally using just the hardware on everyday PCs and only going to the cloud when your workload truly needs it”
At Microsoft Build (BRK260), the Windows ML and AI APIs teams announced a generally-available stack for building local AI apps that run on-device across GPUs, NPUs, and CPUs from AMD, Intel, Nvidia, and Qualcomm. This operationalizes Satya Nadella's 'unmetered intelligence' theme, pushing inference off the cloud to cut cost, latency, and privacy exposure for the 1 billion+ Windows devices, with adopters like Adobe and WhatsApp already building on it.
