Databricks announced Lakehouse RT, the first product powered by its Raiden engine, delivering millisecond performance and massive concurrency for read-only workloads directly on Delta or Iceberg data governed by Unity Catalog. It matters because it positions Databricks to collapse separate serving stacks into the lakehouse, challenging the need for dedicated real-time serving databases.
