DeepReinforce launched Ornith-1.0, its first model, a family of MIT-licensed open-weights coding models (9B to 397B) fine-tuned on Gemma 4 and Qwen 3.5 that claims state-of-the-art performance among comparable open-source models. Simon Willison's hands-on testing found it proficient at agentic coding tasks and tool use, signaling growing capability in locally-runnable open coding models from a relatively unknown lab.
