AWS releases bootloader letting developers install custom OS on DeepRacer RL devices
AWS released a developer bootloader for DeepRacer autonomous RC cars, enabling custom OS installation beyond the now-unsupported Ubuntu 16.04/20.04 that shipped with the devices. The shim-based solution allows modern Linux distributions and custom software stacks while providing transparent visual indicators when developer mode is active. This is a lifecycle-extension move for niche ML education hardware with minimal broader AI industry signal.
