Microsoft launches Work IQ Developer Tools preview for end-to-end M365 Copilot plugin lifecycle

Microsoft announced the developer preview of Work IQ Developer Tools (WIQD), a CLI and agent-native toolchain that consolidates the fragmented scaffold-register-validate-publish lifecycle for Microsoft 365 Copilot plugins into a single flow. The tooling is explicitly designed to be driven by AI agents, shipping an agent plugin, LSP diagnostics, and machine-readable output so Copilot itself can build Copilot extensions end-to-end. This matters as a signal of Microsoft treating agentic development tooling as a first-class product surface, not just a dev convenience.
