Building Agents that Act on Your Behalf with Toolboxes in Foundry
Microsoft Foundry Toolboxes automate user-delegated auth so agents never handle token plumbing.
“Auth lives on the toolbox, not in the agent: You pick an auth type once, when you connect a tool — the agent code stays auth-free.”
Microsoft AI Foundry introduced Toolboxes, a managed layer that handles user-delegated OAuth token acquisition, isolation, and refresh server-side so agent code stays auth-free. The feature targets the hard enterprise problem of agents needing to act as real signed-in users against Entra-protected APIs and Microsoft 365 services. It reduces weeks of plumbing work to a one-time tool configuration, relevant to any team building multi-tool enterprise agents at scale.
