AWS published a reference architecture called ADOP that deploys specialized AI agents to automate the full Bronze-Silver-Gold data pipeline lifecycle, from ETL generation to compliance controls. Its defining architectural choice is that agents run only at build time, emitting deterministic PySpark, SQL, and Airflow artifacts that deploy without any model dependency in production. This 'agents in dev, artifacts in prod' pattern is a concrete counter-proposal to runtime agentic pipelines and has real implications for how enterprises will govern AI-generated data infrastructure.
